Beta version, pending legal review
Flameus is an assistant for college students, run by Frautten Enterprises LLC. It's in an invite-only beta. This page says, in plain words, what Flameus keeps, what it doesn't, and how to delete it.
What Flameus keeps
- Your account: email, name, school, major and year, timezone and your settings.
- School items: your classes and deadlines from your Canvas calendar feed, and the syllabi or study guides you upload.
- What you do in Flameus: your chats, reminders, tasks, work times, goals, journal, practice-exam results and the facts you ask it to remember.
- Short progress notes about an assignment after you share your screen (for example “mission statement done, SWOT still needs examples”).
- Usage counts (how much voice, practice exams and screen help you used) so plans and limits work.
What Flameus doesn't keep
- Screen frames are never kept on our servers. When you share your screen, Flameus looks only when you ask (you'll see “looked just now”), answers you and then lets the frame go. Only the short progress note above is saved. For the “before/after” recap, a few small screenshots stay in your own browser on your device for a day, then they're deleted; they're never uploaded.
- Page text the browser extension reads for an answer is used for that answer only: not stored, not logged and not used to train any model.
- Passwords, card numbers, bank or government ID numbers. Flameus won't save them even if asked, and it hides sign-in codes in emails from itself.
- Card numbers never reach Flameus at all: payments happen in Stripe's own secure form inside the app.
School tools are read-only
Flameus reads Canvas (your calendar feed and, with the extension, your instructions, rubrics and grades). It never submits work, posts, or changes anything in Canvas. The extension stays away from quizzes and tests while you take them.
The browser extension (Flameus for Canvas)
- On Canvas it reads, with your own signed-in session and read-only: your courses, assignments with their instructions and rubrics, due dates, submissions, grades and announcements. It sends them to your own Flameus account so your reminders and plan stay right.
- On your textbook and homework sites it shows a small panel, and reads a page only when you click the flame, the toolbar button, a right-click option or the shortcut. Text you select for Study Helper is used for that one answer and not stored; only Flameus's own explanation, summary or flashcards are saved to your account.
- It never runs on quiz or test pages, never reads your browsing history, never sees passwords, and keeps only your Flameus key and settings on your device.
- Crash reports from the extension carry your account id only, never page content or Canvas data.
- Data from the extension is never sold, never used for ads, never used to decide credit or lending, and never used to train AI models. Its use follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
A coach, not a ghostwriter
Flameus explains, plans, quizzes you and asks questions about your draft. It doesn't write your assignments for you.
Nothing goes out without your OK
Anything that sends a message, spends money or books something waits on an approval card until you tap approve.
Errands (beta)
When you ask Flameus to handle an errand, it uses a fresh cloud browser (run by Browserbase) to search and read public websites for you. It keeps what you asked for, the steps it took and the answer, so you can see them in the chat. While it runs, only you can watch the live browser or take it over. It saves a few screenshots of the steps so you can replay them; those are deleted after 7 days. The browser starts empty each time: it never has your passwords, cards or logged-in accounts, and it never opens school sites. It asks you before booking anything.
Who processes your data
Flameus runs on Supabase (database and files) and Vercel (hosting); Errands use Browserbase's cloud browsers. Your requests are processed by the AI and voice providers that power Flameus (Anthropic, ElevenLabs, Voyage AI) only to answer them. Payments go through Stripe and email through Resend. To find bugs and see which features get used, Flameus records errors and simple counts (like “a practice exam was finished”) with your account ID only, never what you wrote or said. Your data is never sold, never used for ads, and never shared with anyone for their own purposes.
Google and Microsoft data
If you connect Google or Microsoft, Flameus uses that data only to do what you ask. Flameus's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is not used to develop, improve or train generalized AI or machine-learning models. You can disconnect any account in Settings → Integrations or from the provider's own settings.
Security
Each account can only ever see its own data (enforced in the database and tested on every change). Connection tokens and your Canvas feed link are stored encrypted.
Your choices
- See, edit and delete what Flameus remembers on the Memory page.
- Download everything Flameus has about you in one file: Settings → Your data → Export.
- Delete your account and everything in it (chats, files, connections, notifications and the link to your payment details) in Settings → Your data → Delete account. It's permanent. Payment records Stripe must keep for tax law stay with Stripe, no longer linked to you in Flameus.
- Stop optional emails with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of them.
Age
Flameus is for people 18 and older.
